With her background as a former member of the national team in cross-country skiing and as a sports reporter, she has a unique understanding of the sport – both as it is seen from the inside by the athlete, and from the outside by the public.
Marit Bjørgen is a Norwegian cross-country skier, the most decorated athlete in her sport of all time, regardless of gender, with 41 medals in the Olympics and World Championships. From 2002 to 2018, she won 15 medals in the Olympics and 26 in the World Championships, of which 26 were gold and 17 were in individual events. She has won 18 gold, five silver, and three bronze in the World Championships; eight gold, four silver, and three bronze in the Olympics; the World Cup overall four times; and the Tour de Ski overall. No other athletes have as many World Championship medals in cross-country skiing as Bjørgen, and she is also the most decorated athlete in the Winter Olympics of all time.
